Hose Runner
Shifting Alkathene hose for break feeding is one of those jobs that has to happen every day of the season, regardless of conditions. The Plucks Hose Runner turns it into a quick, one-person job - winding and unwinding hundreds of metres of Alkathene hose in under two minutes.
The Hose Runner was rebuilt from scratch following 82 days of on-farm research across New Zealand. Farmers told Plucks exactly what wasn’t working and what they needed instead. Every change in the new design came directly from that feedback - including a 45% reduction in purchase price.
The vertical spinning Jenny design with self-braking mechanism prevents tangles and overruns, so the hose lays and winds cleanly every time. The bobbin side removes in seconds, making it easy to load and swap coils without fuss. The chassis runs on one side only, giving full and easy access to the coil at all times. The drawbar is detachable, keeping freight dimensions down and making the unit straightforward to handle on arrival.
The Hose Runner tows behind a ute, 4×4, tractor, or side-by-side. The bobbin carries approximately 400 metres of 20mm Alkathene hose. It turns what has traditionally been a demanding two-person task into something a single staff member can complete quickly, in any conditions, at any time of the season.
