BENIC BCT30 TRAILER
Lift calves once from the ground. Plucks Engineering, the New Zealand agents for Benic Trailers, offers a design developed by farmers and veterinarians. This design cuts handling time by over 50%, makes overloading calves impossible, and greatly reduces the risk of navel infections.
Transport: up to 30 calves
Towed mass: 1,400kg
Trailer by herd Size: Approx 1100 Cow Herd = 50 born per day
Double sized: 30 Calf Trailer
Best Operating Procedure
Plucks have spent more time in the field last year with the farmer and realised that the video showing the best operating procedure would benefit new or existing staff prior to calving.
The main points of the video show the following in the order of events to minimise handling and lifting:
- Placement of the Sling over the u-shaped Belly Rails.
- Approach the trailer from an angle to keep your head to one side of the overhead rail.
- Placing calf rump first on rails.
- Keep the calf legs outside of the breast rail until you hang them on the rails.
- Two different Sling lift techniques.
- Calf front legs tucked in.
